Vocal Siblinz

Vocal Siblinz are Jase and Korey - two young MCs from South East London inspired by social and environmental issues going on around them. The main focus of their music is to deliver a message - targeting youth crime is top of their list. As gun-crime and knife crime increases, they want to use their lyrics as a voice against this violence. “We are going through a rough period of crime and we feel that we need young voices to prevent young crime.” In their own words, they have “a passion for music and a positive vibe despite growing up in a negative environment”.

In February 2008, they became one of the winners of Origin8 – a competition run by Youth Music in association with the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters. The judging panel included British rapper Kano and songwriter Michelle Escoffery.

In August 2008, the boys were invited to perform at Creamfields in Liverpool – the UKs biggest and most famous dance festival. After a day of preparation in the studio with their mentor and DJ, Todd (AKA DJ Snips), they headed up north and drew a very interested crowd as soon as they took to the stage. Korey told us: “Creamfields 2008 was an experience that can't be forgotten. The people were so warm to us and really seemed to enjoy our unique style of music. DJ Snips was like a mentor and an older brother throughout our time and I think we’ve learned a lot from him. I wish we could do it all again!” Jase added: “It was a lifetime experience all in one day! It was great to work with DJ Snips and we learned a lot from him. The performance was live and the fans were great…..I enjoyed everything about it.”

Mentor and DJ, DJ Snips told us, “This was a great experience for me and I’m sure an event greater one for the two guys. They were a pleasure to work with and I am confident they are in for great things in their careers.” We agree – keep an eye on these lads!
