Five talented teenage musicians; Lizzie Massey, 15 (guitar/lead vocals), Tom Ralphs, 18 (guitar/backing vocals), Luke Ryan, 15 (lead guitar), Max Langley, 14 (bass guitar) and TJ, 18 (drums) were selected as Youth Music’s Build A Band competition winners and got to play at Glastonbury 2007.
The members – who had not met previously – were selected on the strength of their demos from over 300 entries. The judging panel of music industry professionals, which included Geoff Martin, Director of the Left Field Stage, Glastonbury and Neil Ridley, A&R Manager, Warner Brothers Records. They met for the first time on the Wednesday of Glastonbury and worked together to write a protest song which they then performed on the Sunday night of the festival in front of 4000 people. Their performance was introduced by veteran musician, Billy Bragg.
REVOLT released their debut single ‘Call it What You Want’ in October 2007 on Militant Entertainment – the record label run by Glastonbury Festival’s Left Field. The track is produced by legendary punk producer Pat Collier, who has worked with top acts including Maximo Park.
In the same month, REVOLT kicked off their debut tour of BarFly venues, peaking with a showcase performance at the launch of Youth Music Week at London’s National Gallery.
Lead singer, Lizzie told us: “It really is a dream come true and I am going to work really hard. I know I am going to enjoy every second of it and can't wait to play with the other musicians.”
Guitarist, Tom said: "It feels great to be selected as a band member. It's a crazy feeling to be put into an environment that was, up until a couple of days ago, a dream."
