Liquidfunk aka DJ/producer Peter Evans-Pritchard won Youth Music’s competition to play at 2006 Hi:Fi South Festival. The 17 year-old played the opening set in the colossal God's Kitchen arena on the same bill as international talents including Sasha, Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox.
His planned hour long set was even extended by 30 minutes and he was also interviewed on the day by various media including Meridian TV and Kiss FM. Pete, who notes producer Tom Vek as one of his musical influences, got to hang out in the festival VIP area and meet some of the other artists who’ve inspired him including Crazy P and Lemon Jelly’s Fred Deakin.
He told us, “I try to combine the live sound from Indie Rock with the electronic music scene. I'd entered the competition before to play at Homelands and when I saw the link on the Hi:Fi website I got a demo together and sent it off as soon as I could!”
Peter now records under the moniker 'Enjoyed' and is studying Creative Music Technology at university, “I generally make computer music but try to include numerous live elements. I hate MIDI and as such avoid it when possible. I'm also facinated by the way in which sound can be manipulated digitally, be it using a simple delay or a complete bastardasation of a particular sound source.”
