LIVE IN LONDON? CLUB NME UNDER 18s GIG AT KOKO
Check out live performances from Dan Black and MPHO and support Youth Music
KOKO in association NME and media partner Bebo have got it together to offer something exciting for the under 18s, set to happen once a month with a revolving line up of completely brilliant bands live at each event and what’s more, no old folk around to make things look untidy.
The first CLUB NME U18 event is scheduled for Saturday 19 September featuring Dan Black and MPHO. Dan Black was once a member of rock band The Servant but has enjoyed way more success since going solo, and releasing the breakthrough single HYPNTZ a proper mash up of Notorious B.I.G.'s Hypnotize and Rihanna's Umbrella. He also converted the masses at Glastonbury this year after a a storming set in the John Peel tent, so don't pass up this chance to see him at the mud free KOKO. MPHO, South Africa's loss is London’s gain. MPHO's writing has a resonance and depth that sets her apart from many of her pop peers. She's grown up with hip-hop, and it's the rapper's delight in wordplay that gives her lyrics their incisive bite. There will also be a selection of special guest DJs to keep things cooking in between the acts.
CLUB NME U18 will be supporting Youth Music by making a donation on every ticket sale back to us. Let's hope this is the start of long and happy relationship!
