LIVE IN LONDON? CHECK OUT BLASTBEAT FESTIVAL 2009
First annual BlastBeat Festival, organised by London teenagers - 4 July 2009
The first annual Blastbeat festival takes place at Cranford Community College near Heathrow on Saturday 4 July 2009.
The event is being organised by teenagers from across London who are banding together to rise up against the current recession with an affordable £8 (advance) festival ticket. As well as non-stop music on the day, there will be fairground rides, smaller stage performances and workshops for family entertainment.
The festival kicks off at 11am with a Battle of the Bands competition where 12 acts are competing to win a professionally recorded EP to be promoted through Blastbeat.tv.
At the same time, students who have participated in the Blastbeat programme will be competing to win £2000 for their company and £1000 for their school as leading social entrepreneurs.
From 3-8pm there will be the chance to see some more established National and International acts including Go:Audio, The Mission District, PROCEED, and Home Star Runner
The organisers, including a 26 strong team from Cranford Community College are inviting anyone who can’t afford the entry fee to bring along unwanted mobile phones in exchange for discounted entry (Phones need to be in working order and not older than five years. One phone=£4 discount). The phones will be recycled with profits helping disadvantaged children in South African townships.
