Arctic Monkeys top the nominees


NME AWARDS – NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

Arctic Monkeys have topped the nominees for the NME Shockwaves Awards 2008, receiving seven nominations - including Best British Band, Best Video and Best Track for their single ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’.

Nominated alongside Arctic Monkeys for the Best Live Band are Muse, The Cribs, Kaiser Chiefs and My Chemical Romance. In the Best British Band category, The Arctics will battle it out with Muse, Babyshambles, Klaxons and The Cribs.

Mercury Award winners the Klaxons gained a further three nominations for Best Album, Best Video and Best Dancefloor filler.

Hoping to win gongs for the girls are Kate Nash and Amy Winehouse battling the boys for Best Solo Artist; and Lily Allen who is nominated for Best Band Blog.

The awards ceremony will be a massive shindig at O2’s Indigo2 in London on February 28.
