NATIONWIDE MERCURY PRIZE 2007 NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED!
Arctic Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal, Klaxons and Amy Winehouse are amongst those fighting it out
The nominations for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize 2007 have been announced. The 12 albums short listed this year include Arctic Monkeys ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’, Dizzee Rascal ‘Maths and English’, Klaxons ‘Myths of the Near Future’, Jamie T ‘Panic Prevention’ and Amy Winehouse ‘Back To Black’.
It’s their second nomination in two years for The Arctics – in 2006 they scooped the prize with their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not’. It’s also Dizzee’s second nomination, in 2003 he won the prize with Dizzee Rascal ‘Boy In Da Corner’ but who will it be in 2007?
The prize exists solely to champion new UK music by pushing 12 albums and the winner gets £20,000 smackers to help their careers along!
