GMMAZ ON TOP OF THE WORLD
Talented young musicians from Greater Manchester showcase their work at The Lowry
GMMAZ, the Greater Manchester Youth Music Action Zone will deliver its next fabulous On Top of the World concert at The Lowry on Sunday July 29.
The On Top of the World 06/07 project is delivered partners in Salford, Tameside, North Manchester, South Manchester and Bolton. It will draw on the successes of the programme from the previous year and create opportunities for existing participants to develop their skills as well as introduce music making to new participants.
GMMAZ has delivered five projects in its partner boroughs with some work happening in Central Manchester. Children and young people from across Greater Manchester have been working with a diverse team of inspirational and dedicated musicians to create a dynamic performance and the final showcase event at prestigious theatre venue, The Lowry, will feature music created by the participants over the course of the programme.
This will include singing, MC’ing, beat-boxing and instrumental work spanning musical styles from Pop to Rock and Drum & Bass to Grime.
Guy Garvey, Elbow commented: “If this year’s On Top of the World is even half as good as last years, it will be an incredibly valuable thing for the city’s music."
