Bachelor of Music (Honours)
This is intended for performers and composers intending to pursue performance-based careers. It includes intensive performance-centred training Early Music, Jazz, Indian Classical Music or Western Classical Music. In fact, there is a also a pathway for specialist performers which leads to a BMus (Hons) in Indian Classical Music.
Duration: 4 years
Entry: Two ‘A’ Levels or equivalent, of which one is normally expected to be in music, three GCSEs (including English Language) at Grade C or above, and Grade 8 standard in Principal Study.
Master of Music, MMus
This course enables students to develop areas of specialisation within the field of creative performance. The aim is also to nurture creative leaders within today’s increasingly diverse music profession. Specialisms include Composition or Performance in areas such as Early Music or Western Classical Music.
Duration: 1 year
Entry: Graduates with a high level of skill as performers or composers.

BMus(Hons)
RCM’s music degree aims to create “professional musicians with high-level practical skills who are also flexible, thoughtful and well-informed about music and the opportunities available within the profession.” There are opportunities to explore chamber music, Orchestral repertoire, and there are specialist classes, workshops and masterclasses utilising period instruments.
Duration: 4 years
Entry: A level Music at grade C or above (most students achieve grade A or B) and a second A level at grade E or above, or equivalents.
BSc(Hons) Physics with Studies In Musical Performance
If you want to learn about advanced performance studies and related musical enquiry, as well as all the components of an honours degree in physics, then this is for you. The course is taught jointly with Imperial College. Applications should be made to Imperial College via UCAS, and also directly to RCM on their application form. The programme is not available to singers.

Performance is part of the course for all. The programme deals with “song, language and movement classes for singers, Bach and sonata classes for string players, keyboard experience and duo classes for pianists and a wide range of individual instrumental and family group activities in the wind and percussion department.”

Junior Guildhall Music Course
This is a Saturday School offering advanced training in music and drama to young people aged between 4 and 18. It aims to give pupils with exceptional musical ability the chance to be exposed to the discipline of music through individual instrumental lessons, chamber music, orchestras and large ensembles, workshop activity, classes and frequent performance opportunities.

Guitar Higher National Diploma in Music Performance and Production
This course can be taken in vocals, guitar, drums, keyboards or bass. You’ll study modern composition, audio technology, harmony, arranging and writing music for film. As well as live performances, you’ll be encouraged to write for rock bands, string quartets, and more. This is for serious musicians dedicated to forging a career in the industry.

Entry: Entry on to the course is based solely on initial assessment.
Studio recording and production
This aims to help would-be producers and engineers learn about the techniques and technology needed to work with a wide variety of music forms, including rock, dance and classical. This is an intensive introduction that throws you in at the deep end.

BTEC National Certificate in Music Practice
For post 16 students. You’ll follow this course with at least one other award (eg music technology), equivalent to one A-level. This is Britain's only free Performing Arts and Technology School. You’ll cover subject areas like The Music Industry, Performance Process, History of Popular Music, Midi sequencing and software, and History and Analysis of Western Art Music.
Duration: 2 years
Entry: Applicants must be undertaking GCSE in music (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate an ability to perform, either as a vocalist or instrumentalist, and should have some experience of live performing. Also, a good knowledge of music theory is required.

BA Honours Commercial Music
The course is the first of its kind in the UK say Westminster. It deals with music production, the music business and the study of music as culture. It has strong links with major record labels, as well as a wide range of independent music and multimedia companies, and is aimed at both musicians and aspiring music business professionals.

BSc (Hons) Music Informatics
This is a new programme unique to the University of Westminster. It offers a practical and theoretical understanding of the audio industry covering areas such as digital music composition, computer sequencing and audio programming skills. Computer programming for multimedia and virtual instrument design are also included in a range of topic areas.

BA Music
In the first year students study ethnomusicology and a variety of Asian and African musics. Aural training is given and there are lessons in one or more Asian or African performance traditions. In Years 2 and 3, students are encouraged to explore the music of a selected region or regions through ‘area’ courses focussing on Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Jewish world.
