Music Degree
Significant figures in music have studied or taught at Cambridge, which has its’ own purpose-built Music School. There are studies in history, analysis and compositional techniques. The aim is to combine intellectual stimulation and develop musical skills. There is a range of musical societies promoting orchestral, choral and chamber music, as well as opera.

BA Music
Critical Studies and Creative and Performance Studies are the core units of the first year, after which students can choose their own programme. Options include The Sixties Pop Explosion ­ Then & Now, Music, Perspectives on the Concerto and more. The course aims to be comprehensive in its intellectual range, and to encourage individual talent.
Duration: 3 years
Entry: Standard A-level offer is BCC, with the B grade usually in Music

BA Music with Mathematics
Practical skills in musical performance and composition with the study of a number of core subjects in mathematics are what’s on offer here. there is the possibility to vary the proportion of the two subjects, and some areas of study – like the mathematical modelling of music - combine both disciplines.
Duration: 3 years
Entry: Standard A-level offer is BCC

BA Music with Computing
This course combines practical skills in musical performance and composition with a number of core subjects in computer science. Some units – like electro-acoustic composition - combine the skills of both disciplines. Students can vary the proportion of the two subjects.

Popular Music Foundation Degree
Anglia state that “modules are delivered via a mixture of lectures, seminars and workshops, computer-aided learning programmes and individual lessons.” Students learn to improvise and sight-read, will engage in aural training and more.
Duration: 3 years full-time
Entry: 120 tariff points, including GCSE English grade C. Plus Audition/workshop.

Music BA (Hons)
Core studies in the first year Languages of Music, Critical Skills, Progress File and introductory modules in Composition, World Musics and Principles of Musicology. Thereafter students can choose modules, including Music Technology, Jazz, World Musics. Anglia state that they have “moved away from the idea of teaching topics which are defined by historical period or arbitrary geographical location.”
Duration: 3 years full-time
Entry: 160-180 tariff points. Must have A-level Music at grade C, ABRSM Grade 8 (Practical) or equivalent.

BSc Honours Music, Commercial Composition and Technology
Students learn to “develop strategies for composing for a variety of commercial media within the current market place.” Acoustic instruments and technology –especially computers - are utilised, exploring a range of commercial styles for TV, film, song-writing purposes.
Duration: 3 years full-time
Entry: 240 points including GCE A Level or equivalent in music or music technology or grade V theory ABRSM. Plus GCSE English, mathematics and science at grade C or above.

BA/BSc Honours Music and Entertainment Management
This course combines Music, law and business studies to provide an overview of the music industry. Branding and music marketing, the music business in society, entrepreneurial practices and finance are covered, and the course is suitable for those wanting to work in either the pop of classical fields.

BTEC National Diploma in Music Practice
This is a work related course aiming to introduce students to the music industry. The Music Industry, Performance Techniques, Arranging, Composing, Arranging, Music from Around the World and Sound Recording Techniques are all covered. There is also the opportunity to gain an additional qualification in Music Technology.
Duration: 2 years full-time
Entry: 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, or a BTEC First Diploma or equivalent, plus proven musical ability.

BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts
This course aims to develop students’ practical skills in music. Production Project, The Music Business, Understanding Music, Performing Music, Composing, Recording and Sound Operation, are all units. A student successfully completing this course could go on to a BTEC National Diploma in Music.
Duration: 1 years full-time
Entry: GCSE grades D or E in English, Maths and two other subjects, plus
you must be able to play a musical instrument.

BTEC National Diploma in Dance/Musical Theatre
This practical course covers units in Performing Arts in Context, Performance, Acting, Choreography, Musical Theatre, Singing, Contemporary Dance, Jazz Tap, Ballet and Production Process.
Duration: 2 years full-time
Entry: BTEC First Diploma or 4 GCSE’s grades A to C or equivalent work experience and successful participation in an audition at interview.
